Agada Development Association has held its 3rd quarterly Annual Meeting for the year 2019 at Lokoja, Kogi State Capital.
The Chairman of the association, Engr Alhaji Ajabi Hussaini, while giving his extensive and comprehensive speech said, ” Agada’s Sons and Daughters should henceforth see the development of the community as social responsibility in order rescue the area from the dark age”.
Engr Ajabi who spoke fluently in his native language, Igala, also said ” it is lamentable that Ogbabede Ward which is the largest ward in the country with 54 villages which also translates to 54 Polling Units has no electricity , pipe born water, good road network, telecommunications service, hospitals as well as other needed social amenities necessary for the well being of the people”
He noted with regret that Politicians often come to the area during elections period to make bogus promises only to abandon the area after the elections.
He therefore charged the sons and daughters of the area to contribute their quota to the community in the area of Education, Health , Commerce and Industry, ICT, electricity and capacity building.
Earlier, the former President of the Association, Mr Francis Ojoh, commended Mrs Alikeju Akpai Odawn, Mr Abas Boyi, Mr Shehu Daikwo and the current President of the Association, Alhaji Engr Hussaini Ajabi, who have contributed to the growth and development of the area in no small measure .
Mr Francis Ojoh, who eulogized their individual contributions to Agada’s community also said, this category of people should be recognized at A.D.A’s end of the year Annual Meeting in Agada in oder to encourage them to do more.
To that effect, Mr Francis Ojoh, Mr Usman Omaogala Akowe and Mr James Sani were unanimously nominated to serve as a standing committee that would give award to deserving Sons and Daughters of Agada.
In another development, following matter arising from the Minutes of the Meeting read by the National Secretary of the Association, Mr Michael Omakoji Sani, Members have agreed to wage war against “electoral violence and thuggery” which are now becoming norms in Ogbabede Ward.
speaking, Alhaji Rabiu Teidi, the Chairman of the Association, Lokoja Chapter, advised that “there is an urgent need for members to go back home and caution their siblings before the next election; a move he noted would avert intending casualties arising from electoral violence and thuggery”.
