Sometimes in in Febuary 2017, a sitting Governor of Kogi State, in person of Yahaya Bello, was involved in INEC’s double registration.

A news that dominated Nigerian Media for months.

After a thorough investigation, two INEC staff who conived to carry out the criminal act were dismissed from service.

SaharaReporters at a point seeked to know why Governor Yahaya Bello was not punished along those dismissed staff but INEC responded that “Yahaya Bello” would be punished after his immunity.

Perhaps, many political pundits postulated that Yahaya Bello would meet his waterloo if he dares to contest any elective position in future going by the stipulation of electoral Law in Nigeria.

As if Nigerian Electoral laws have gone on holiday as the same INEC who boasted to Punish Yahaya Bello has given him go ahead to contest Kogi Gubertorial election 2019.

Many elites within and outside Kogi State have termed it as illegality and injustice against the good people of Kogi State.

This bias and injustice on the part of INEC has no doubt generated alot of misgivings among elites.

In the recent move, one of the strong Gubertorial Candidates, Barister Natasha Akpoti of SDP who was erroreously disqualified by almighty INEC has taken INEC to court seeking the disqualification of Governor Yahaya Bello over ‘double registration’.

In this light, a social commentator and one of Nigerian finest young writer, Sani Michael Omakoji reacts this way;

” #Natasha’s reason seeking for Governor Bello’s disqualification is simple as Nigerian Electoral Law as amended in 2010 states that whoever is involved in such act should be disqualified and imprisoned as its describes the act as criminal offence.

Recall, that two INEC’s staff who carried this act earlier in 2017 were dismissed from service after thorough investivation that they indeed carried out the criminal act.

Is a common phenonmeon to hear in law that he who comes to equity must come in a clean hands.

Why the above asertion? Remember that Governor yahaya Bello ‘induciously’ used party’s laws to disqualify Bigwings in APC who were up to contest with him in the last APC’s primaries.

In summary, if our law is not serving the purpose of ‘Animal Farm’, why has INEC not punished Governor Yahaya Bello for that masterminded criminal act?

Can anything good ever come out of this INEC who is openly subverting the will of the people?

At this point, it is only God that will savage Nigerian system as almost all institutional frame up put in place in the past to ensure due process and justice are now rubber stamps.

In case you don’t know, Governor Yahaya Bello first registered as a voter in Wuse Abuja in 2011 and procured the second voter registration in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital in May 2017″.

As I conclude, let me say without fear or favour that ‘if Nigeria is working society, Governor Yayaha Bello stands authomatically disqualified over his involvement in INEC double registration saga’.
