An Npower Beneficiary who pleaded for anonymity has lamented that it is unfair that Npower Beneficiaries across the country treck for hours to get to their places of Primary Assignment ( PPA ) over incessant delay of their monthly stipend.

” We appreciate the Federal Government for giving us the opportunity to be among the beneficiaries but no member is happy that the stipends are always delayed for no tangible reason” – the Beneficiary tells ourworldgist on Thursday.

From investigation, Npower Beneficiaries who are on monthly stipend of N30,000 are yet to receive their January 2020 stipend even despite the fact that all the Ministries, Federal agencies and parastatals including their junior counterpart NYSC, corps Members have all been paid.

Another Npower beneficiary who also pleaded for anonymity said, “this has been a regular occurrence without any reasonable excuse to justify the delay”

He spoke further: “this is not the first time this is happening as is now a norms in the scheme “.

” The worst of it all, the Npower officials go about inspecting us at our PPA every now and then perhaps if you are not lucky to be on duty despite non payment of our monthly stipend, these officials expunge your name, is this fair? What about those who do not have transport fare? After all, they know we are all coming out of festive period like any other federal government worker” , the Fellow added.

In a street to street interviews among Npower Beneficiaries by ourworldgist, while others are of the opinion that, the delay might have been as a result of the federal government’s plan for upward review of their stipend to about N50,000 and above others are saying that, “even with that arrangement, the delay does not worth it as NYSC corps members who are junior counterparts enjoy that benefit without delay of their allowance.

Recall that the Federal government is now paying NYSC Corps Members N33,000 as against N19,500.

Therefore, in the spirit of fairness and justice, Npower Beneficiaries are expectant to enjoy the upward review of their stipend as soon as possible without further delay of their stipend.

While appealing to the federal government to address the delay in Npower Beneficiaries stipends, beneficiaries are also saying that they have had enough time in the scheme to be absorbed as the federal government workers.

Ourworldgist would keep you posted on Npower Beneficiaries’ ordeal as non payment of their stipend lingers on.
