A Federal High Court in Lokoja has once again upheld the Candidacy of the SDP Governorship Candidate in the November 16 Kogi Gubernatorial Elections, Barr. Natasha Hadiza Akpoti and her Deputy, Engr. Ogbeche Khalid.
The Court ruled on the petition number FHC/ABJ/CS/1138/2019 filed against the SDP Candidates by one Femi Peter Joseph whose activities are closely associated with the Kogi State Government.

In the Suit which has SDP, INEC, Muhammed Bashir and Natasha Hadiza Akpoti as defendants, Mr. Peter challenged the qualification of the already substituted Muhammed Bashir Yakubu and subsequently pray that the court disqualifies the SDP Candidate from contesting the election held on the 16th of November 2019.
In a Judgement delivered yesterday, Tuesday 18th of February 2020 by His Lordship D. U. Okorowo of the Federal High Court, Lokoja, Kogi State, the court held that the petition is a mere academic exercise as there is no relief in the petition for the Court to grant, thereby striking out the petition for lack of merit in its entirety.
It would be recalled that the Federal High Court, Abuja and the Appeal Court held similar judgements against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) when the Commission unlawfully invalidated the nomination of the SDP Candidates on the ground of age requirement of the already substituted Deputy Governorship Candidate of the party.
