Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s speech on Sunday night which announced the extension of lockdown ( Stay At Home), Nigerians in their numbers have taken to twitter to protest that COVID-19 palliative relief should be paid through Bank Verification Number ( BVN)
In what they tagged as #PayUsViaBVN, on twitter, they are argued that if small Namibia can pay their citizens via BVN, what stop Nigerian Government from doing same?
Others are of the opinion that the reason why President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration want to dodge BVN is because, they want to loot the money and later come up with fiction figures that Nigerians have not benefited from.
Let us read few of their protests via in a screenshots below:
Recall that President Buhari announced his stimulus package to only 3.1Million Nigerians out of an estimated population of 250million People.
This figure the protesters say is not fair enough as Hair Dressers, Drivers, Bricklayers and Private workers who are now rendered unemployed are not captured in the palliative relief.
Some even queried the process of disbursement which has to do with table payment as they said such payment cannot be accounted for in this modern era.
They therefore call for digitalized method of payment as other Nations of the world are paying.
