The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has adopted the indirect mode of primaries in the forth coming Gubernatorial election in Edo State.
According to ourworldgist reporter, the State Chairman, Anselm Ojesua stated the Coronavirus pandemic as one of the reasons for this decision, adding that having 300,000 individuals risking their lives in this period for the sake of conducting primaries is unethical.
He said this at a meeting with stakeholders held in the State party secretariat in Benin City on the 22nd of May, 2020.
Ojesua also mentioned that the newly rebuilt Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium would be used as the venue to host the statutory delegates.
Ojesua added that the state party lacks a credible register of members, hence making the direct primaries method unworkable.
The Edo State indirect primaries will host about 3,500 delegates next month, according to the state chairman of the party.

With this development, there is certainly internal crisis within the party as the position of APC National Working Committee totally opposite of what the state chapter of APC proposes.
Fillers have revealed that the crisis is fueled by the rift between Adams Oshiomole and the sitting Governor Godwin Obaseki who have since fallen a part due to quest for power supremacy between the duo in the state.
