Edo gubernatorial is getting interesting as Oshiomole’s Preffered Candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is reported to havsd emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo.
Ize-Iyamu, a former Secretary to Edo State Government (SSG), emerged on Tuesday night in Abuja through a consensus arrangement.
The Pastor of Redeeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) was presented by chairman of the screening committee, Senator Francis Alimikhena, the representative of Edo North Senatorial District.
Other members of the screening committee were a former Edo Deputy Governor, Lucky Imasuen; Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe; ex-Speaker of Edo House of Assembly, Thomas Okosun; former Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Samson Osagie; ex-member of the House of Representatives, Patrick Obahiagbon and the current Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, Peter Akpatason.
Recall that there has been political rift between the seating Governor Godwin Obaseki and the erstwhile Governor of the State, Adams Oshiomole who is accused of indirectly playing the role of godfatherism in the state.
Close source to Obaseki said, the seating Governor is committed to the development of the state and that he is not ready to trade that with any person or group of person bargaining for the role of godfathersim.
While we wait for Governor Godwin Obaseki’s reaction to this development, we shall update you if this kangaroo arrangement that saw Ize Iyamu emerged as APC’s Guber flagbearer is going to stand or not.
