Mother of the abducted girl Leah Sharibu ( Mrs Rebecca Sharibu ) on 19th February 2014 has been reported to have collapsed at Dauchi Market square on Saturday last week when she came to get some food ingredients.

Eye witness said, Mrs Rebecca Sharibu collapsed when she saw her daughter’s class mate at the market in Dauchi who was also among the abducted ladies but later freed by Bokoharam.

Mrs Rebecca Sharibu who carried uncontrollably was reported saying, “my daughter is still in captivity”, ” Please rescue my daughter for me”, “am in pain on daily basis”, ” is it a crime to be a Christian? “, ” Bokoharam have freed others but refused to free my daughter because she is a Christian “…

As at the time of filing this report, Mrs Rebecca Sharibu was surrounded by sympathizers who were trying to calm her down.

You recall that Leah Sharibu was abducted on February 19, 2014, by the Boko Haram who attacked the Government Girls Science and Technical School in Dapchi, Yobe State, Nigeria.

Bokoharam abducted 110 girls, five of whom were reported killed in the abduction.

In March, Bokoharam returned 104 girls to their families, all the students they had abducted from the school except for Leah Sharibu.

Bokoharam reportedly kept Leah Sharibu because she refused to comply with their demands and convert to Islam.

Born on May 14, 2003, Leah Sharibu has had her 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th birthday while in Bokoharam captivity.

Bokoharam had threatened to kill Leah Sharibu if their demands were not met.

The Nigerian government has said it “will not relent in efforts to bring Leah Sharibu safely back home.”
