The Body of Benchers which earlier made an open invitation to the general public for January Bar Final 2019/2020 backlog “Call To Bar Ceremonies” has made a U-turn to restrict the ceremonies to the Asirants alone.
This development is as a result of measure put in place to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
In a statement made available to press men, Mrs. H.A Turaki, Secretary to the Body, it reads, “This is to notify Members of the Body of Benchers and Aspirants to the Bar that the Call to Bar Ceremonies for candidates in the January, 2020 Bar Final Examination is scheduled as follows:
Date: Tuesday, 15th September, 2020
Time: 10:00am prompt
Venue: Eagle Square, Abuja.”
The statement added that, the choice of Eagle Square is in order to ensure compliance with COVID-19 protocols and guidelines.
That the choice of the Eagle Square was made due to its semblance with the National Stadium since it is an open-spaced facility.
It will give room for better ventilation considering the guidelines on curbing the spread of Covid-19 virus.”
The statement further stressed that participants alone would be accommodated while urging Parents and Guardians to watch the live streaming.
It reads in part, “We regret to inform the Parents/Guardians of the aspirants and the General Public that the ceremony is strictly for the aspirants.
“However, Parents/Guardians are advised to watch the ceremony through National Television as there is going to be live streaming of the ceremony on National Television and other social media platforms.”
Finally, Aspirants are warned not to be late to the venue.
