Information reaching ourworldgist at 7:48am being 30th September suggested that passengers and vehicles from the eastern part of the country are right about now stranded around Salem University Lokoja due to flooding that has taken over the road linking the eastern part of the country to other parts of the country.
Ourworldgist reporter, Haruna O reported that as the time of filing this report, countless numbers of vehicles with commuters are seen in clusters lamenting on the ugly development.
It was gathered that between popular 500 units housing estate of the town and Ganaja village roundabout down to extreme end of Ganaja road have become impassable as the water has covered the road.
Ourworldgist reporter, Haruna O, reported that houses along that road, properties and farmlands had also been taken over by the flood thereby rendering thousand of people homeless.
A flash back of our similar revealed that one Muhammed who spoke with ourworldgist’s reporter, had said that, “effort had been made by previous government of Captain Idris Wada’s led administration to construct Ganaja bypass road through Otokiti to Army barracks road but the present government led by Alhaji Yahaya Bello has abandoned the project which would have served as an alternative road at this critical time”
He appealed to Governor Yahaya Bello not to play politics with matters of public importance as the bypass road means a lot to the residents of Lokoja, Kogi East people and the Eastern part of the country as is the only road linking them to Lokoja and other Northern parts of the country including Abuja, the federal capital territory.
Muhammed challenged Governor Yahaya Bello to emulate the leadership qualities of President Muhammadu Buhari who has painstakingly continued and completed most projects initiated and started by Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s led administration.
He mentioned railway project, Lokoja- Abuja road among others as few examples of projects continued by President Muhammadu Buhari ‘s led administration.
While calling on the federal government to give relief materials and temporary shelters to the affected people of the resident of the area also called on Governor Yahaya Bello to embark on the construction of low cost housing as done by Captain Idris Wada when the flood came in 2012 to permanently relocate the perennial victims of the flood.
As we empathise with the good people of Lokoja, we at ourworldgist equally urge you to stay connected with us as we update you as the situation unfolds.
