Disengaged npower beneficiaries are to come out in their numbers in Abuja on Thursday being 12th November 2020 as police has granted them go ahead to protest following “Notification Letter” to that effect.
According to the National coordinator of the body, comrade Pelemi, beneficiaries from 36 states of the federation including FCT are expected to participate in the protest in the city of Abuja which designate National Secretariat as its gathering point beginning from 6:45am in the morning on 12th November 2020.
He said the protest which is a peaceful protest is to demand for immediate employment of the said beneficiaries into MDAs as hitherto promised by Honourable Minister in charge of the scheme, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq.
He also mentioned the issue of backlogs of stipends being owed their members ranging from 6 Months, 7months, 9months and even some a year plus as part of the reason for protest.
He however said that part of the conditions given by Police Force towards the proposed protest are: No weapon is allowed in the areas of protest, No destruction of public properties, No use of ill words, No meddling with opposition parties and there shall be no fireworks.
He stressed that this protest has become necessary as government via Honourable Minister Hajiya Sadiya has made several promises in the last six months without action.
He further retreated volunteers commitment to continue to be law abiding citizens in demand for their right saying that they cannot afgord to go back to the streets after being used for two years or there about.
