Respected Senior Advocate of Nigeria, J.S Okutepa has distanced himself from Brownnosers ( sycophants ) who now see award giving as money making ventures.
J.S. OKUTEPA, SAN who frown at the ugly development made this known on Saturday morning being 20th February 2021 on his official Facebook account.
He warned that those who join the enemies of the people in praising and celebrating failure should henceforth stay clear of him adding that he does not want any phoney awards any longer stressing that God himself has decorated him with the best award any man kind can desire.
He noted that instead of giving him award, such money meant to organise award ceremony should be redirected to assist orphans and the less privileged persons who cannot earn a living for themselves.
His post reads thus: “I don’t want to be celebrated by those who have failed in governance. I want to be celebrated by those who have touched lives of people who matter in the society.
Those who daily loaded me with awards and requests to be awarded one phoney awards or the other must know that the best award you can give me is to ensure that your next neighbour whose child is out of school because he or she cannot afford to pay the child’s school fees is assisted for the child to go to school.
The best award to give me is to ensure that those brilliant orphans out there go to schools or be assisted to learn one trade or the other for the betterment of their tomorrow. I have no room for begging awards.
The best friend I want to keep now is that friend who knows the potentials in him or her and works to realise that potentials.
Truly those who join the enemies of the people in praising and celebrating failure should stay clear of me.
I do not want phoney awards. God himself has decorated me with the best award. The life he gave me is the best gift to mankind.
He has elevated me without me lobbying him for it. When those whose future is being destroyed joined the destroyers to further destroy the collective tomorrow of generations yet unborn I wonder what is now left of this nation.
I have no regard for those who engage in sycophantic praise of failure or those who have failed us, just because of temporal benefits. Let us think about the future of our children and behave right please”.
