Pastor Mathew James Eleojo of Solemn Faith International Church Port-harcourt stated that competition serves as the source of distraction.
This sentiment was expressed during the church service held on August 27th, 2023.
In his sermon titled “Enemies of Joy,” Pastor Mathew James Eleojo referenced several passages from the Bible, including 1 Peter 1:8, 2 Corinthians 10:12, 1 Samuel 2:30-31, Isaiah 14:12-15, Luke 10:18-19, and Psalms 92:1.
He outlined various enemies of joy, which encompassed unhealthy competition with others and forgetfulness of past acts of God in one’s life.
Pastor Mathew conveyed that competition generates adverse life pressures, and he encouraged people to remember that life’s battles persist as long as they remain on Earth. He emphasized the importance of Christians reflecting on God’s past interventions while disregarding past failures.
He emphasized that Christians should continually testify to God’s past goodness to overcome the inclination to complain, avoid ingratitude, elude afflictions, and evade premature death.
He underscored that Christians should not allow their present circumstances to make them forget the past deeds of God, asserting that God’s future actions outweigh what has yet to occur.
Therefore, Christians should maintain a sense of gratitude regardless of their circumstances.
The service also featured a performance by the solemn and glorious voice choir, enriching the worship experience.
