In a service held on 23rf October 2023 at Solemn Faith International Church located in Federal Housing Estate Woji, Port Harcourt, Pastor Matthew James Eleojoh delivered a powerful sermon on the topic of “Understanding Kingdom Prosperity.”
The Pastor explained the importance of tithing and its consequences, drawing from biblical references in 2 Corinthians 8:9 and Psalm 35:27.
Pastor Eleojoh started his sermon by highlighting the abundance that God’s kingdom offers, citing verses such as 1 Kings 3:13, 1 Kings 10:23, Matthew 6:29, and Matthew 12:42.
Defining prosperity as “living in abundance to the overflows,” he referenced Genesis 12:1-4, 2 Chronicles 31:10, Exodus 36:7, and Joel 2:24.
The Pastor stressed the covenant keys to kingdom prosperity, with the first key being tithing, as referenced in Malachi 3:7-12 and Leviticus 27:30.
He emphasized that giving should start with tithing and that faithfulness in tithing leads to continuous financial increase.
He explained that tithe is the tenth percent of all financial increase dedicated to God, as outlined in Deuteronomy 26:12 and is the Lord’s portion from all provisions (Genesis 14:18-20).
It is not to be confused with offerings, sacrifices, vows, prophetic offerings, or welfare offerings.
The importance of tithing was discussed, emphasizing its holiness to God, its belonging to God (Leviticus 27:30), and the role of Jesus as a high priest in receiving the tithe (Hebrews 7:8). Redeeming the tithe, when necessary, requires an additional 20%.
The purposes of tithing were elaborated, including gratitude to God, remembrance of one’s origins, and as a means of worship, all of which create a peculiar and blessed group of people on earth.
Tithing also serves as a test of obedience.
Two types of tithing were explained: personal/individual tithing (Malachi 3:5-7) and corporate tithing (Genesis 14:17-20).
Consequences of neglecting tithing were outlined, including curses, vulnerability to satanic attacks, and disqualification from God’s blessings.
The benefits of tithing were also highlighted, such as preserving one’s life, receiving divine ideas, and enjoying God’s blessings.
The service included a special musical performance by the Solemn Glorious Voices.
In closing remark, Pastor Eleojoh encouraged the members to prioritize tithing as a key to prosperity and blessings.
This insightful sermon at Solemn Faith International Church shed light on the significance of tithing and its impact on the lives of believers.
Congregants left with a deeper understanding of the principles of kingdom prosperity as presented through Pastor Matthew James Eleojoh’s teachings.
