The Farmers Forum of Nigeria (FFN) has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to intervene in the illegal operations of one Hon Ojo Ajanaku, who is allegedly hijacking cashew produce along highways in Nigeria under the National Cashew  Association of Nigeria (NCAN).
The FFN In a statement signed by the National Spokesperson Barrister Ibrahim Adama states that “there is an ongoing court case between the NCAN and the Kogi State Cashew Stakeholders Association, and it would be contempt of court if the police commissioners in Edo, Ogun, Osun, or Lagos States take sides with the NCAN and stop the movement of farm produce in their respective states.
The FFN also claimed that three trucks of cashew produce are currently being held in Ibilo, Edo state, by thugs working for Hon. Ojo Ajanaku and with the aid of the police in the area.
The FFN appealed to the Inspector General of Police to intervene and urged the police in Edo state not to allow Mr. Ojo Ajanaku to use them to harass produce that has met all the required standards, as this could further escalate tension in the country.
” We the farmers and critical cashew stakeholders are appealing to Inspector General of police to wade in pending the determination of the case in Federal high court “.
Barrister Ibrahim also appealed to Police in Edo state not to allow Mr Ojo to use them in harrasing produce that have met all its standard as that will further creates tension in the land.
” Nigeria as a country is going a lot and another action that can provoke public reaction negatively should be carefully avoided as much as possible”.
The statement added, “we are law abiding Nigerians doing are legitimate business to feed our families and contribute to gross domestic product ( GDP) of Nigeria and as such we should be encouraged rather than be harassed and deprived by one self centered individual”.
