A lecturer from the Religious Studies Department at Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba Dr. Esther Ojone Joseph, has been selected as one of the winners of the Lagos Studies Association’s (LSA) 2024 Writing and Mentoring Workshop. The announcement was made on May 10, 2024, by Professor Saheed Aderinto, who revealed that the competition received 432 applications, out of which only 24 were successful.
The highly competitive workshop is funded by the British Academy through an International Writing Workshop Grant. Professor Aderinto highlighted the significance of the workshop, noting that participants will engage in guided activities during the LSA’s Conference in Lagos from June 21-30. Attendees will work on an article in progress, have access to online resources, and receive mentorship.
The program also includes training on how to write and receive peer reviews.
Dr. Esther Ojone Joseph holds a PhD in Religion and Society from PAAU, a Master of Arts in Sociology of Religion from the University of Ibadan, and a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Religious Studies from Kogi State University, Anyigba (now known as Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba).
Joining Dr. Joseph in the 2024 cohort are 23 other scholars from various academic institutions across Nigeria.
These include Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, University of Nigeria Nsukka, University of Lagos, University of Ibadan, Bayero University Kano, Tai Solarin University of Education, Caleb University, Madonna University, and Lagos State University. Additionally, representatives come from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Obafemi Awolowo University, Afe Babalola University, Babcock University, University of Benin, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Veritas University, The Polytechnic Ibadan, and Kaduna Polytechnic.
The inclusion of Dr. Joseph and her peers in this esteemed workshop underscores their dedication and potential in the academic field, promising a productive and enriching experience at the upcoming LSA Conference.
