Pastor Mathew Eleojoh James & Mrs Pastor Hope Matthew of Solemn Faith International Church, located at Road 21, Plot 14, Federal Housing Estate, Woji, Port Harcourt, delivered inspiring sermons on “The Mysteries of Divine Visitation” during Sunday’s services.
Drawing from key scriptures such as Luke 1:25-26, Genesis 21:1, and Genesis 30:23, they elaborated on the profound instances of divine visitation recorded in the Bible and its impact on believers’ lives.
In his message, Pastor Mathew provided several biblical examples of divine visitation.
He recounted the story of Abraham and his wife, referencing Genesis 18:1-5, 21:1-6, and 22:1,11-17, where God’s promises and interventions were vividly evident.
He also spoke about Jacob’s encounters with God as documented in Genesis 28:12-16 and Genesis 32. Additionally, Pastor Mathew highlighted the story of Cornelius, a centurion, whose divine visitation is detailed in Acts 10:1-4 and Acts 11:1-9.
The sermon also included references to Jesus’ own divine encounters, particularly in Matthew 4:11 and Luke 22:43.
Pastor Mathew then delved into the nature and roles of angels, describing them as spirit beings ordained by God to minister to His people.
He cited Hebrews 1:7,14 and Psalm 104:4 to emphasize their divine mandate.
Furthermore, he explained that angels serve as God’s agents, tasked with directing and instructing His people, as seen in Genesis 16:7-11 and Zechariah 1:18-21.
The primary assignments of angels, according to Pastor Mathew, include ensuring the protection and preservation of God’s children, bringing good tidings, ensuring divine guidance, fighting battles, and delivering answers to prayers.
He supported these points with numerous scriptural references, including Exodus 14:19-20, Psalm 91:11-12, Isaiah 37:36, and Acts 10:1-4.
Addressing the congregation, Pastor Mathew explained how individuals can provoke angelic intervention in their lives.
He emphasized the importance of avoiding filthiness, fearing God, practicing generosity, engaging in kingdom service, maintaining a strong prayer life, and demonstrating obedience and willingness to dwell in the house of the Lord.
These practices, he suggested, are key to attracting divine visitation and angelic support.
Pastor Mrs. Hope Mathew delivered a compelling sermon on the same topic, drawing from key scriptures including Genesis 30:23, Joshua 5:9, and Luke 1:25-26.
She expounded on the purpose of God’s divine visitation, emphasizing its profound impact on believers’ lives. Pastor Hope explained that divine visitation serves to change every narrative in our lives, including seemingly conclusive and impossible cases. Referencing Luke 1:6-7, she illustrated how God addresses reproach, shame, stagnation, and mockery, as evidenced in Genesis 21:1-3 and 1 Samuel 2:21.
Furthermore, she highlighted that divine encounters dispel fear and doubt, citing Luke 1:13 and Exodus 20:20.
Another significant aspect of divine visitation, according to Pastor Hope, is to assure and reassure believers of God’s promises. She pointed to Luke 1:13 and 30, as well as Jeremiah 32:41, underscoring that these visitations bolster our faith and confidence in God’s word.
Additionally, divine encounters bring and increase joy, as mentioned in Luke 1:14 and 1 Thessalonians 4:10. Pastor Hope also noted that divine visitation can surprise believers and those around them, referring to the miraculous events in Mark 2:12 and Luke 5:26. These encounters serve as powerful testimonies of God’s power and presence.
Moreover, she spoke about God’s preservation of His people, drawing from Job 10:12, and His release of judgment against the heathen, referencing Psalm 59:5 and Proverbs 19:23.
To fully experience divine visitation, Pastor Hope urged believers to remain steadfast in their service to God, as highlighted in Luke 1:8 and Revelation 2:19.
The service was enriched by special numbers from the choir and fervent prayers, leading to testimonies of healing and deliverance. In her closing remarks, Pastor Hope reminded the congregation of the realities of Heaven and Hell, urging them to live in readiness for eternity.
Both sermons left the congregation with a renewed sense of faith and an understanding of the profound mysteries of divine visitation, inspiring them to seek and embrace God’s presence in their lives.
