Pastor Mathew James Eleojoh of the Solemn Faith International Church located at Road 21 Plot 14 Federal Housing Estate Woji, Port Harcourt today, delivered a powerful sermon focusing on the theme “Why and How Does God Bless His People.”
Drawing from the scriptures Genesis 1:28, Genesis 12:2-3, and Revelation 5:12, Pastor Ele-Ojo explored the reasons behind God’s blessings and the ways in which believers can access these blessings.
He began by addressing the fundamental question: Why does God bless His people? Pastor Ele-Ojo emphasized that God’s blessings serve several divine purposes. Firstly, they allow believers to represent God effectively on earth. Citing 2 Corinthians 5:20, Isaiah 3:10, and Psalm 82:6, he highlighted that being blessed by God reflects His glory and power through His people, thereby presenting Him well to the world.
Pastor Ele-Ojo also noted that God’s blessings protect believers from the insults and humiliations that can come from others. Referencing Genesis 14:22-23 and Proverbs 19:4, he explained that God’s favor can elevate His people above human disdain, allowing them to walk with dignity and honor.
Furthermore, he shared that God’s blessings serve to distinguish His people from the rest, creating a clear demarcation between those who walk with God and those who do not.
This, he said, is evident in stories like that of Joseph in Genesis 37:1-4 and 39:1-6.
Moreover, Pastor Ele-Ojo discussed how God’s blessings make life easier and facilitate the fulfillment of the end-time mandate, particularly the work of evangelism.
He referenced Genesis 1:28 and Zechariah 1:17 to underline how divine blessings can empower believers to carry out God’s work more effectively.
Transitioning to how God blesses His people, Pastor Ele-Ojo focused on the critical role of the blood of Jesus.
He stressed that the engagement of Jesus’ blood is a key avenue for accessing divine blessings.
He supported this with references to scriptures like 1 Corinthians 10:16 and Hebrews 12:24.
Pastor Ele-Ojo went on to explain various ways believers can engage with the blood of Jesus, such as through the communion table, the blood of sprinkling, and the release of the pouring of blood.
Each method, he said, is deeply rooted in scriptural tradition, offering specific blessings like the Zoe life of God, complete cleansing, healing, supernatural strength, and wisdom.
He then detailed the blessings that come from partaking in the communion table, including the infusion of God’s life (Zoe), total cleansing from sin, and the reception of supernatural strength and deliverance.
Pastor Ele-Ojo emphasized that these blessings are part of the believer’s redemption package as highlighted in Revelation 5:12.
Concluding his sermon, Pastor Ele-Ojo shared how believers can provoke these blessings in their lives.
He advised the congregation to avoid uncleanness and filthiness, to have faith in the blood of Jesus, and to be determined to do what is right.
He also encouraged reliance on God’s mercy, quoting scriptures such as Romans 3:25 and Colossians 1:20 to reinforce his points.
In closing, Pastor Ele-Ojo left the congregation with a poignant quote: “How you are representing God on earth is traceable to how well you are doing in life,” reminding everyone that their earthly success is a reflection of their divine connection.
