At Solemn Faith International Church, located at Road 21, Plot 14, Federal Housing Estate, Woji, Port Harcourt, Pastor Mathew Eleojoh James delivered a powerful message on the Manifestation of the Spirit of Wisdom during the Sunday service on February 23, 2025.
Drawing from Isaiah 11:1-3 and Revelation 5:10, he emphasized the significance of divine wisdom in a believer’s life.
In his sermon, Pastor Ele-Ojo explained that the Spirit of Wisdom grants access to divine light and understanding of God’s word. He referenced 1 Samuel 3:7, 21 and Proverbs 4:7 to illustrate how wisdom enables believers to perceive the mysteries of the scriptures. He further stressed that wisdom is not merely intellectual ability but a divine force that transforms one’s spiritual journey.
He also pointed out that the Spirit of Wisdom allows individuals to draw meaningful lessons from everyday experiences. Using examples from Proverbs 6:6 and Proverbs 24:30-34, he explained that nature and life itself provide insights into God’s wisdom.
He encouraged the congregation to be observant and discerning, learning from both successes and failures.
To sustain the operation of divine wisdom, Pastor Ele-Ojo highlighted the necessity of maintaining the fear of the Lord, as seen in Genesis 42:18 and Daniel 6:1-5. He stated that reverence for God is the foundation of all wisdom and warned against prioritizing human approval over divine obedience.
Furthermore, he stressed the importance of cultivating a deep love for God. Referencing 1 Kings 3:3; 11:1-3 and Romans 8:35-37, he explained that love for God unlocks supernatural wisdom, just as Solomon initially flourished in wisdom when he loved the Lord but later faltered when he turned to foreign influences.
Another key factor in sustaining divine wisdom, he noted, is possessing a meek spirit. He cited Genesis 41:6; Daniel 2:20-21; Numbers 12:3; Psalm 103:7; 25:9,12 to illustrate that humility attracts divine insight. He urged believers to embrace humility, as it positions them to receive continuous guidance from God.
Pastor Ele-Ojo also emphasized the power of gratitude and praise. He referenced Psalm 92:1-3; 119:164 and Ephesians 5:19, noting that a grateful heart keeps a believer aligned with divine wisdom. He encouraged the congregation to develop a habit of constant praise and thanksgiving to sustain their connection to God’s wisdom.
Additionally, he highlighted the necessity of meditating on God’s word. Using Proverbs 18:1; Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 1:2-3, he explained that consistent reflection on scripture deepens understanding and aligns one’s thoughts with divine principles. He urged believers to make meditation a daily practice.
Effective and consistent prayer, he said, is another vital component in sustaining wisdom. Quoting Jeremiah 33:3; James 1:5 and Daniel 5:10-11, he emphasized that prayer opens doors to divine revelations and clarity in decision-making. He encouraged the congregation to maintain a strong prayer altar.
Furthermore, he underscored the need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. He referenced Acts 2:1-4; Isaiah 11:2; Acts 6:3 and 1 Corinthians 12:7-8, explaining that the Holy Spirit is the source of divine wisdom and discernment. He urged believers to seek the infilling of the Spirit continually.
Pastor Ele-Ojo also shared profound wisdom quotes to drive home his message. He remarked that embracing wisdom erases foolishness, using Genesis 37:1-5; 41:38-41 to illustrate how divine wisdom distinguishes a person. He also emphasized that interpreting God’s word requires wisdom, as the revelation one receives determines their depth in God.
He further warned that fearing God is essential to avoid disaster, citing 1 Samuel 15:24 as an example of how disregarding divine instruction leads to downfall. He reminded the congregation that Solomon, once the wisest man, lost his glory when he turned away from God to follow foreign women (1 Kings 11:1-5).
Additionally, he explained that one’s love for God determines their level of wisdom. He noted that humility sustains wisdom, as seen in Matthew 5:5. He also stressed that those who embrace wisdom will inevitably rise to greatness, as illustrated in Genesis 41:39-41.
Concluding his message, Pastor Ele-Ojo urged the congregation to always walk with God, as Proverbs 13:20 states that associating with the wise brings wisdom. He reiterated that meditating on God’s word makes wisdom a lifestyle and that no truly wise person is disconnected from God. The service ended with a powerful session of prayer, as attendees sought a fresh impartation of divine wisdom.
