In a powerful and spirit-lifting Sunday service today, held at Solemn Faith International Church, located at Road 21, Plot 14, Federal Housing Estate, Woji, Port Harcourt, the Senior Pastor, Mathew Eleojoh James delivered a stirring message titled “The Spirit of Love”, emphasizing that a Spirit-filled life is indeed a love-inspired life.
Taking his text from 2 Timothy 1:7 and Matthew 19:26, Pastor Mathew expounded on how genuine love, rooted in the Holy Spirit, empowers believers to defy limitations and embrace divine possibilities.
He stated that love is not just an emotion but the driving force behind supernatural courage, obedience, and purpose.
According to him, when the Spirit of God dwells in a person, love becomes their nature and identity.
Pastor Mathew used the biblical example of Prophet Elijah to illustrate how love for God can enable a person to dare the impossible.
Referencing 1 Kings 17:1 and other related scriptures, he highlighted Elijah’s capacity to stand alone with God, his unwavering obedience to divine instructions, and his ability to see beyond his present challenges.
These traits, he noted, were fueled by Elijah’s deep love for God.
He further pointed out that Elijah underwent several tests that proved his maturity, loyalty, honesty, and faithfulness.
Through these trials, Elijah demonstrated an understanding of his divine assignment. His mission, Pastor Mathew emphasized, was one of rescue to shield people from the devastating effects of famine and starvation, and to confront the threat of premature death.
In doing so, Elijah witnessed firsthand the miracles of supernatural provision.
Another key aspect of Elijah’s love for God, the pastor noted, was his fearlessness.
Drawing from passages such as 2 Timothy 1:7 and Romans 8:35, he stated that true love casts out fear, enabling believers to stand bold in the face of adversity.
Pastor Mathew also touched on the essential ingredients of genuine love, identifying the accurate knowledge of God’s Word and the presence of the Holy Spirit as foundational.
He explained that when love becomes one’s identity, protecting others and standing in the gap becomes a natural response, not just a responsibility.
Throughout his message, Pastor Mathew shared several thought-provoking quotes that resonated deeply with the congregation.
He remarked that “possibility is seen when love is leading” and “it is not what you gain or dare that drives you it is love.” He cautioned that personal interest at the center of one’s love could derail one’s purpose, reminding the church that being alone with God is far better than being everywhere with men.
He further stated that wisdom should be used to manage certain situations, especially while staying aligned with divine direction. “The level of your obedience reveals the level of your love for God,” he declared, urging the congregation to love beyond their present conditions, especially when the flow of provision seems to cease.
Pastor Mathew concluded with a strong affirmation that clarity of purpose is the antidote to distraction, and that when love comes alive, fear must die. He closed by reinforcing the central theme of his sermon: “The Spirit-filled life is a love-inspired life.”
