Port Harcourt, Nigeria – In a soul-lifting service held at Solemn Faith International Church, located at Road 21, Plot 14, Federal Housing Estate, Woji, Port Harcourt, the General Overseer, Pastor Mathew Eleojoh (also known as Pastor Mathew Ele-Ojo James), emphasized the vital connection between sound health and the ability to fulfill life’s purpose.

Preaching on the topic “Keys to Sustaining a Healthy Living”, Pastor Mathew drew inspiration from Exodus 15:26 and 1 John 1:2, stressing that while it’s impossible to have everything to stay healthy, maintaining good health is essential to doing everything else in life.

In his message, the pastor highlighted that one of the cornerstones of good health is maintaining positive and healthy thinking. Citing Proverbs 23:7 and Philippians 4:8, he explained that a person’s thoughts shape their health. He also underscored the role of prayer and fasting as divine tools for health preservation, pointing to scriptural references such as Isaiah 58:6-9 and Deuteronomy 34:7 to show that spiritual discipline can lead to physical vitality.

Joy and happiness, Pastor Mathew explained, are not mere emotions but vital forces that sustain life. “Excitement kills sickness, gladness prevents heaviness, and joyfulness stops weakness,” he declared, quoting Proverbs 17:22 and Philippians 4:4 to back his assertions.

The importance of living as a faithful ambassador of Christ was also stressed. According to Pastor Mathew, this not only aligns a believer with divine purpose but also keeps them in a place of divine health. He warned the congregation against harboring bitterness, citing its damaging effects such as attracting sickness and killing potential, referencing Hebrews 12:15 and Genesis 37:1-12.

To overcome bitterness, Pastor Mathew advised against hatred, envy, jealousy, and unwholesome conversations. He also encouraged the faithful to guard against offense, emphasizing the need to keep hearts free from emotional toxins in order to preserve health.

Discipline, he said, is another key to a healthy life. Referencing Daniel 1:8-12 and Ruth 3:10-11, he explained that discipline must be applied in every area—thoughts, speech, vision, actions, and even in eating and spending habits. He firmly stated, “Until you are disciplined, you can’t be different in life.”

Pastor Mathew concluded his sermon by stressing the relevance of bodily exercise, as mentioned in 1 Timothy 4:8, and encouraged the congregation to be deliberate in taking care of their physical well-being while building spiritual strength.

The service also featured vibrant ministration from the church choir, Solemn Voice, whose powerful songs lifted the hearts of worshippers. Intense and explosive prayer sessions were held, with the atmosphere charged with faith. Many attendees testified to God’s intervention in various areas of their lives, resulting in what the pastor described as “massive testimonies” of divine healing and breakthrough.

In a memorable quote from the service, Pastor Mathew declared, “You may not need everything for health, but you need health for everything. Your kingdom service is your health insurance.”

The message left the congregation inspired, reminding them that true health goes beyond the physical—it is a reflection of disciplined living, spiritual alignment, and a joyful heart.
