PORT HARCOURT — In a powerful message during the church’s annual Choir Day celebration,Pastor Mathew Eleojoh James the General Overseer of Solemn Faith International Church, declared that it is impossible to truly do God’s will and still live a sorry life.

The event, held at the church’s headquarters on Road 21, Plot 14, Federal Housing Estate, Woji, Port Harcourt, drew worshippers into a deep reflection on the meaning and value of holiness in the believer’s journey.

Preaching on the theme, “The Beauty of Holiness,” Pastor Mathew emphasized that holiness is not merely a religious idea but a lifestyle grounded in consecration and sanctification.

Taking his text from 1 Chronicles 16:29, Psalm 29:2, Psalm 96:9, and 2 Chronicles 20:21, he explained that holiness reflects the very character of God and remains a non-negotiable standard for anyone who desires to walk in His will.

“Holiness is the sum total of God’s character. It is purity, it is righteousness, and it is soundness of mind and morality,” he said. “You cannot see God and still live in a sink life. Holiness will polish your life, not punish it. It brings out the best in you.”

He further stressed that living a holy life attracts divine privileges.

According to him, when a person embraces holiness, they experience God’s presence, enjoy glorious living in Christ, receive divine direction, and walk in eternal life. He warned that many claim to serve God while living carelessly, but “genuine holiness” sets believers apart from empty religion and false appearances.

The pastor also addressed the difference between true holiness and its counterfeit. He cautioned that while many present an outward form of godliness, it is only those who maintain inward purity and integrity that truly please God. “Holiness is not a backward life; it is a forward, progressive and profitable life,” he said. “Iniquity destroys destinies, but holiness builds them.”

Pastor Mathew went on to admonish the congregation to hate sin, love righteousness, and stay clear of associations that promote ungodliness.

He explained that holiness equips a believer with the capacity to live a fulfilled and morally sound life. Citing biblical examples like Joseph and Daniel, he demonstrated how moral uprightness leads to promotion, purpose, and divine intervention.

One of the most compelling statements of the day came when he declared, “You can’t do God’s will and still live a sorry life.” According to him, every person who truly walks in God’s ways will experience joy, purpose, and spiritual satisfaction. “Holiness does not make a mess of you. It brings out your glory,” he affirmed.

The atmosphere of worship was electrifying as the Solemn Voice Choir delivered special numbers that lifted the spirits of the congregation.

Their ministration was deeply admired and added color to the celebration.

In addition to the musical performances, the service featured explosive prayer sessions, with members engaging fervently in prayers for divine direction, healing, and transformation.

Several testimonies of breakthrough and deliverance were also shared by members of the congregation, highlighting God’s faithfulness in their lives.

The service was both spiritually uplifting and emotionally stirring, as the church celebrated not just the gift of music but the call to holiness.

In his closing remarks, Pastor Mathew reminded the congregation that holiness remains the easiest route to eternal life and God’s intervention in life’s storms. “If you must live a quality life,” he concluded, “you must pass a moral test. Until you hate sin, you cannot quit sin.”

The Choir Day celebration at Solemn Faith International Church ended on a high note, leaving attendees inspired and challenged to embrace a life of holiness that reflects the true beauty of God.
