Lokoja, Kogi State – In an unprecedented gesture, a young Nigerian, Mallam Kashimu Alfa Ojochenemi from Agada in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, has stunned many by declaring three days of free barbing services in his home state.
The event is taking place at one of Lokoja’s most popular barbing outlets, Ilawo Nah Star Barbing Salon, located opposite Ganaja Village near the historic confluence of Rivers Niger and Benue.
The initiative, which runs from Friday, September 12 to Sunday, September 14, 2025, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. daily, has been described as the first of its kind in the state. Some have even suggested it deserves recognition as a Guinness World Record attempt.
Speaking to OurWorldGist via telephone on Thursday morning, Mallam Alfa explained that he was inspired by two key motivations: the desire to give back to society and the need to encourage entrepreneurs investing in Kogi State and beyond.
According to him, he has already deposited substantial funds to cover the cost of all customers who will benefit from the gesture.
He also extended an open invitation to journalists and representatives of the Kogi State Government to monitor and witness the exercise.
In addition, he revealed plans to replicate the initiative in other parts of Nigeria where Ilawo Nah Star Barbing Salon operates.
Renowned for its state-of-the-art equipment and modern facilities, Ilawo Nah Star Barbing Salon is widely regarded as one of the best in the industry nationwide.
Mallam Kashimu Alfa, the sponsor of this initiative, is a young contractor engaged in real estate, import and export of grocery items, as well as general contracting.
