The Senior Pastor of Solemn Faith International Church, Pastor Mathew Eleojoh James, has declared that while it is God’s duty to bless His people, it remains man’s responsibility to sustain those blessings.
Speaking during Sunday’s service at the church headquarters located on Road 21, Federal Housing Estate, Woji, Port Harcourt, Pastor Mathew delivered a powerful sermon titled “Keys to Accessing and Sustaining the Blessing.” His message, drawn from Genesis 12:2–3 and 22:1, centered on the divine principles that govern how believers can not only receive God’s blessings but also preserve them through obedience and spiritual sensitivity.
Pastor Mathew emphasized that one of the greatest keys to accessing and sustaining the blessing is the ability to hear the voice of God.
According to him, divine direction and instruction are revealed through God’s voice, and losing touch with it can lead to a life devoid of divine favor. “Loosing His voice is losing the blessing,” he said, adding that “deafness to His voice is openness to poverty.”
He explained that hearing from God requires spiritual alignment through salvation, immersion in God’s word, and fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
He further stated that believers must remain steadfast in trust and total obedience to God’s commands, citing Abraham’s unwavering faith in Genesis 12 and 22 as a model for all who seek divine favor.
In his sermon, Pastor Mathew warned against wrong passions, noting that they can attract untimely destruction and hinder the sustenance of blessings.
He urged Christians to maintain integrity and faith, declaring, “If you cannot be trusted, you cannot be called the blessed.”
The clergyman also reminded the congregation that surrounding oneself with blessed people may attract temporary blessings, but sustaining them requires personal intimacy with God. “If you hang around the blessed, you will be blessed,” he said, “but it takes hearing God yourself to sustain the blessing.”
He concluded by stressing that walking in obedience is synonymous with walking in the blessing. “As long as your trust stands strong,” he affirmed, “nothing can stop you from seeing God.”
The service, themed around divine empowerment, featured the church’s worship team, Solemn Voice, and was marked by an atmosphere of intense praise, worship, and massive, mind-blowing testimonies that left the congregation uplifted and inspired.
