Ahead of the mega protest by batches A and B Npower Beneficiaries scheduled to hold nationwide on Thursday 16th July, 2020 following the news of disengagement by the Federal Government ( FG ), Nigeria’s security outfits to include: Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety corps among others have acknowledged the receipt of a letter to that effect.

In a letter dated 8th July 2020, the peaceful protest would hold simultaneously across the 36 states of the federation including the federal capital territory ( FCT ).

According to the details of the letter, the protest which would commence by 9:00am to 12noon would see affected beneficiaries embark on possession from Government House of each state to end at the state house of Assembly while that of FCT will commence from Eagle square to terminate at the National House of Assembly.

Recall that the FG through the Minister in charge of Npower, Hajiya Sadiya Farouq Umar has last month announced the disengagement of about 500, 000 Nigerians from the programme who are on the monthly stipend of N30,000.

The news which has generated alot of concern amongst the beneficiaries is more so that the federal government has not come up with the clear definition of the so much talked about “enhancement scheme” which was hitherto envisaged to give permanent means of livelihood to the embattled beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the Minister of finance/budget and planning, Mrs Zainab in a conflicting interview on NTA on Monday announced the disengagement package to be GEEP LOAN , Hajiya Sadiya Farouq Umar in a tweet on other hand said that she and other stakeholders are working on transition plan for the affected beneficiaries.
