Social Media was taken by storm on Thursday being 29th October, 2020 as one Kogi Commissioner was seen in a video footage by Channel Television crying profusely over stolen “palliative or immunization equipment”.
This video footage has generated a lot of reaction among Nigerians especially those from Kogi state that are active on social media.
Some of these Nigerians rain insults on the said Commissioner saying, fake Politicians always cry to deceive their followers.
For example, many of them made references to political razzmatazz in preparation to 2015 elections in Nigeria when some high profile Politicians cried on political podiums as if, if given opportunity, they will do better.
Unfortunately, Nigerians are now living witnesses today to how these Politicians have become semi gods championing oppression, unleashing poverty on their followers, feeding fat on taxpayers’ money, engaging in perpetual abuse of power and unprecedented era of impunity and bad governance.
Of course, it is against this background that Nigerians especially ‘Kogites’ are hulling insults on the said Commissioner but our reliable Columnist Sani Michael Omakoji differs in opinion.
In what he titles ” Kogi’ Commissioner Crocodile Cry Is A Welcoming Development, Sani Michael Omakoji noted that it shows sense of sanity is gradually returning to Kogi State.
Let us read his apt reaction:
” Yesterday being 29th October 2020, I watched a video footage by Channel Television featuring a young man they said is a Commissioner for health in Kogi State.
From his narration and online responses I got to know that he was crying over the stolen immunization equipment and AC compressors.
The funniest thing is that those MRI Machines that the commissioner in question is carrying over were purchased by Wada’s administration to be installed at Kogi Diagnostics reference centre, Lokoja but was never installed before Wada left power.
Five years down the line that Wada left power the present Government is yet to install those machines because of politics of divisiveness that has taken over the principles of good governance that advocate “continuity”.
Perhaps, while others chose to insult this commissioner, let me differ in opinion here that sense of humanity is gradually returning to Kogi State and that I think in my opinion must have necessitated the young man ‘s crocodile cry.
Why did I say so? Yes, I should say so because in that same state, call Kogi, so many things more than that magnitudes had happened and no one has shown sign of remorse or concern.
For example, that same state, thugs came broad day light to attack the Federal Medical Centre Lokoja: destroyed so many medical equipment beyond repair; carted away with personal belongings of Doctors like laptops, huge amount of money and so many more over simple reason that the said Hospital was administering treatment to COVID-19 Patients which the ‘Chief Economic Officer’ of the state believes does not exit.
Till today as I write, the Hospital is still closed down three months after because of the quantum looting suffered by the Hospital in the hands of the hoodlums.
Dishearteningly, no one has been arrested in connection to this unholy act and the said Commissioner of health is yet to make official statement or even ‘cry small’ but he is crying profusely today over similar incident.
Should I say at this point that ‘life indeed gives birth to what we sow’ or say instead that “what is good for the goose is good for the gander” and in a raw and more catching statement, I can say that ” he who lives by the sword will surely die by the sword “.
Again in the same state, just to acquire power, Mrs Salome Abuh, PDP women leader was burnt alive, similarly, Young Usman Daniel died as a result of straight bullet he suffered while he was trying to vote for a candidate of his choice.
What was their sin? Simple, because they were simply in opposition…
So inhuman! so heart breaking and so devastating! no government official shows any sign of remorse before one even talk of cry.
A Lawmaker supposedly representing the area even said the attack on Late Salome Abuh was a reprisal attack.
Wao! To him, “life for life, blood for blood, and dead for dead” if need be.
People who were not privy to this ugly experiences in Kogi might be tempted to doubt the testimonies here but if you do your findings from any 10years old child and above who witnessed the said election in Kogi infact, you will be shock what you will hear.
In another related development, for the first time in the history of the world as acclaimed by CNN & BBC, Helicopters were used to rig election for someone who was/is rejected by even the mad men and women on the streets not to even mention normal human beings in the state.
Again, no government official shows sign of remorse despite the fact that people lost their lives and a lot of innocent kogites were harassed and deprived of their rights from voting.
The recent happening that some renowned media houses were paid not to carry the news was the quantum number of lives that were lost in the cause of trying to get palliative.
All of them that died suffered straight bullets including one Isaac, a staff of Radio Kogi 94.1FM, Lokoja.
Till date, government is yet to make official statement concerning this incident over people struggling to get food meant for them but got diverted.
On a good note, if amidst of all these happenings and no government official shows sign of remorse but we now have a Commissioner who has volunteered to cry a crocodile cry in a similar occurrences, it shows that the sense of sanity is gradually returning to the state.
Infact, some one like me, wants to see many Commissioners and some others government official join him cry in the days ahead if not now but certainly later.
Frankly speaking on a final note, let me state here that if we can see this Commissioner cry at this time in our life time, those who have done evils and pretend to be saint should also get ready that they will soon cry a River that will not help them in some days to come.
