A social Elites group, Kogi Likeminds In Diaspora (KLD) has accused Governor Yahaya Bello of witch-hunting those he considered as his political challengers in Kogi gubernatorial race for 2023 election.
In a letter authored by one Ben Attah Christopher, as obtained from WhatsApp group, he accused Governor Yahaya Bello of using Government Institution such as Judiciary, INEC, Security Agencies and others to fight those who are not on the same page with him politically.
The letter which lamented the executive rascality of Governor Yahaya Bello also regretted how he has used government’s institutions to haraass and intimidate respected Igalas statemen like Sani Abdullahi, Yakubu Muhammed, Patrick Akpa, Jubrin Usman, late Prof Seidu Onailo Ogah, Suleiman Babanawa amongst others in the past.
The letter also stated expressly how Governor Bello is doing everything possible to disqualify Igala noble son, Alhaji Muri Mutala Ajaka from contesting Kogi gubernatorial election come November 2023.
The letter which described Bello’s act of politics as an invitation to anarchy capable of degenerating into tribal war, also warned Governor Yahaya Bello to repent or be ready to face resistance henceforth.
part of the letter reads:
“It is regrettable to state that even after Governor Yahaya Adosa Bello, of Kogi State was declared Persona non grata by USA government in 2019 following his role and involvement in fueling Political crisis in which many lives were lost, he has continued with his political rascality without showing sign of remorse or repentance.
Governor Yahaya Bello’s executive rascality calls for questioning as he continues to use all the institutions of government available at his disposal to fight those he considers to be his political Enemies.
Similar to his strategies in the past, Governor Yahaya Bello, recently sponsored the arrest of an Igala Stateman, Babanawa Suleiman, whom he perceives to be his political challenger going into Kogi Gubernatorial election slated for November 2023.
In another related development, he has also cooked baseless allegations using Kogi State Judiciary to disqualify Alhaji Muri Murtala Ajaka, considered to be the most populous and most acceptable by all tribes in Kogi State to win All Progressive Congress ‘s (APC), gubernatorial ticket.
This kind of politics is an invitation to anarchy and tribal war as other tribes especially Igalas who are the majority will move to resist this oppression.
Recall that he has used the same tactics in 2019 to disqualify some notable Igalas and other tribes in Kogi State to pave way for his second term tenure which he claimed he won using INEC, thugs and Helicopter.
The affected Aspirants then were: Hadiza Ibrahim, Sani Abdullahi, Yakubu Mohammed, Mohammed Audu, Patrick Akpa, Jubrin Usman, Babatunde Irukera, and Late Prof Seidu Onailo Ogah.
If Bello is popular with his preferred candidate, why using government Institutions such as Judiciary, INEC, Security Agencies and other Institutions of governance at his disposal to fight his challengers?
From all indications, in a free and fair election, Bello cannot even win his constituency election thus, that’s why, despite all his manipulations in collaboration with INEC, Barrister Natasha Akpoti defeated his Candidate, Ohare before INEC Fraudulently and shamelessly declared Abubakar Ohare as an interim Winner.
In view of the power drunk and executive rascality by Bello leading to clamp down of many people consider to be his challengers, we use this medium to advise him to allow a level playing ground else he should be read to meet resistance in his next action.
We also appeal to all Institutions of government who have become zombies in the hands Bello to withdraw their compromise support else, we shall not hesitate to subject the heads of those Institutions to public disgrace and as we move in addition to inform relevant countries to bound them and their children from having access to foreign education, health care and holiday resorts”.
KLD is a social organisation of Kogi indigenes based in Europe while Kogi so much talk about Gubernatorial election is slated to take place November 2023.
