In a recent turn of events, Shaibu Abubakar Audu , son of the late prominent politician Prince Abubakar Audu, is facing allegations on social media for purportedly attempting to hinder certain Kogi residents from voting in the upcoming Kogi gubernatorial election scheduled for November 11, 2023.
Accusations against Shaibu Audu Abubakar suggest that he is employing deceptive tactics to prevent individuals who are not loyalists of Usman Ahmed Ododo of the All Progressieve Congress (APC) from casting their votes.
These tactics allegedly involve offering fake “airtime” to potential voters.
According to an ICT expert, Mr. Boniface, the airtime provided by Shaibu Abubakar Audu is suspected to be part of a scheme to disable many voters’ cards in the Igala land region when individuals subscribe to this offer.
It is claimed that once people accept this offer, their permanent voter cards become invalid during the voting process due to the disabling of PINs.
Mr. Boniface has urged Kogi residents not to accept this offer, citing mischievous and potentially harmful intentions behind it.
Other Kogi residents have joined their voices to express their disappointment in Shaibu Abubakar Audu, warning that his actions could lead to his downfall.
They are also calling on the citizens of Kogi State, especially in Kogi East, to reject the offer and report any mischievous intentions across all social media platforms.
Shaibu Abubakar Audu currently serves as the Minister of Iron and Steel for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The allegations against him have generated significant attention and concern as the Kogi gubernatorial election draws near.
