Dr. Jibril Lawal Tafida, Special Adviser to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has disowned a controversial document circulating on social media that purports to be authored by him and contains damaging allegations against his principal.

The document, crafted as a letter to the Office of the President at Aso Villa and dated November 22, 2025, accuses the leadership of the National Assembly of corruption and recounts claims that Tafida was neglected by the Senate President during a personal bereavement.

In a formal disclaimer issued on November 22, 2025, titled “Disclaimer on a Fabricated Document Circulating in My Name,” Tafida categorically denied any involvement in producing, authorizing, or endorsing the letter.

He described the unsigned document as a calculated effort to weaponise his name, malign the Senate leadership, and foster unnecessary disaffection within the institution.

Tafida noted that the allegations contained in the viral text are easily discredited, pointing out that Senator Akpabio has no role in contract awards, as he is not a member of the National Assembly Tenders Board. He added that the entire National Assembly complex is owned and managed by the Federal Capital Development Authority through its contractor, Laralex Nigeria Ltd., rendering the claims of contract-related impropriety baseless.

The tone, structure, and content of the letter, he said, clearly reveal an intention to stir discord and tarnish reputations.

Reaffirming his respect for and loyalty to Senator Akpabio, Tafida emphasized that their relationship has always been cordial and rooted in mutual trust.

He stressed that he has never expressed the sentiments attributed to him in the fabricated publication.

He appealed to the public, media organisations, political actors, and online distributors to disregard, delete, retract, and desist from spreading the false document.

Tafida concluded by reiterating his commitment to the Office of the Senate President and to the work of the National Assembly, which he described as vital to national unity, stability, and democratic progress.
