Kogi State University Anyigba, Students are right about now protesting at the university community, Anyigba, over what many describe as “astronomical increase” in school fees and other levies.

According to aggrieved students, increasing the school fees from N50,000 to N100, 000 at this point that the world is battling with the aftermaths of COVID-19 pandemic is not only insensitive on the management of the university but also callous and antihuman policy capable of truncating the educational career of students from not just poor home but also average home.

‘OURWORLDGIST’   gathers that the new levies that forced the school fees from N50,000 to N100,000 also required students to pay: N20,000 for old Hostel as against N10,000, popular Wada Hostel from also N10,000 to N30,000 while the recently built Hostel has price tag of N60,000.

Students who are currently out in their are carrying various placards such as : “Reverse School & Hostel Fees”, ” Children Of The Poor Also Deserve Education”, “Enough Is Enough To Anti Human Policies By Governor Bello”, ” Wrong Time To Increase Fees”, “Bello Wants To Technically Close Down KSU”, ” Tenuche Is Intelligent But Poor In Administration “, ” VC Tenuche, Live, Let Us Live …. amongst others inscriptions.

Meanwhile, thousand of people within and outside Kogi who are monitoring the situation via online have frown at Governor Yahaya Bello move to increase school levies at this time that the world is struggling with COVID-19 pandemic stressing that if anything, students should enjoy education at this time without pay.

While on standby to update you as the situation unfolds, all effort made as at the time of filing this report 9:45am 17th March 2021 to hear from school management of the university proved abortive.
