History was made on Sunday 10th April, 2021 as a movie titled “Acholo” was officially presented to the general public at the premiere that took place at SilverBird Cinema House, Abuja.
The premiere which was the first of its kind in Nigeria witnessed the presences of many personalities from Igala land.
One of those personalities at the event was the most learned, J.S Okutepa ( SAN ).
Okutepa who commended the effort of the producer, Thompson Makolo Jr also used the occasion to charge young men to emulate the virtues of Makolo noting that hardwork pays.
J. S Okutepa who also frown at the laziness of many youths who have resorted to fake awards giving reacts in full:
“I witnessed the premiere of a film called Acholo on 10th of April 2021 at the Silver Bird Cinema Abuja.
The film was dircted and produced by Thompson Makolo Jr. Thompson Makolo Jr is a very vibrant and responsible young man with such infectious humility of great tomorrow. I was in tears almost all the duration of the film.
It was typical of the realities in our land today. I did not want to attend. Thompson kept pestering me and bombarded me with messages.
I reluctantly attended. It was my first time of going to a cinema house to watch movies or film. I don’t do it. I don’t know how to do it. But I did it because of Thompson. He has a great future if you ask me.
A premiere or première as I was told is the debut or first public presentation, of a play, film, dance, or musical composition. A work will often have many premières: a world première (the first time it is shown anywhere in the world) and its first presentation in each country.
The storyline of the film clearly shows what goes on in our land today.
Many wicked people are abound in our land. I congratulate Thompson Makolo Jr. Today many of our able bodied men and women have buried their talents in begging and “omawede”, this is your pikin behaviour.
Some are just nuisance beggars with phoney awards. Some who have not met you before will bombard you with requests for help.
Some will daily load you with account details for financial help even when you don’t even know them. Thompson did not take to begging. He took to his talents to make a living.
Many personalities were at that occasion. Nobody can refuse to be identified with good product. You are a good product when you do the right thing.
Acholo is a must watch. Get the film watch it and learn the meaning of Acholo in that famous tribe called Igala. The play is sub titled in English. You wouldn’t regret watching it”.
