Some indigenes of Kogi state had alleged that the Federal government social investment scheme tagged ” Conditional Cash Transfer” for kogi has been hijacked from the poor masses by some ‘political hoodlums’ in the state.
OurWorldGist gathered from Oyiza Muhammed, Olugbega Femi, Enemaku Achona, and Mushurat Adenohi who reside in the state that, “the USSD code for Conditional Cash Transfer introduced by the federal government of Nigeria for Kogi state was immediately blocked a day after its introduction on 4th July, 2021″.
They alleged that some political hoodlums in the state had manipulated the process for the benefit of their cronies as a reward for their ” praise singing activities “.
Further investigation revealed that the federal government of Nigeria has made the registration process simple nation wide through the introduction of USSD code but that of Kogi state is not working as the code has been deliberately manipulated.
To attest to the allegation, all the USSD codes supposedly expected to represent each of the twenty one Local Government Government Area in the state are not going through.
In a follow up to the allegation, all effort made to reach out to the agents of the federal government on this programme proved abortive as the numbers made available on their portal are perpetually switched off.
Meanwhile, the concerned Citizens of the state therefore appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly to intervene for the poor masses of Kogi state as it will be unfair for some group of people to rob them of their collective benefit.
The Conditional Cash Transfer programme is designed to benefit poor and vulnerable households with a monthly stipend of 5,000 Nigerian nairas (US$13.83). Beneficiaries also receive training as well as financial and technical support to start small businesses.
