The Central Bank Of Nigeria ( CBN ) has bowed to pressure to extend the deadline for old Naira notes till on February 10 2023.
In a breaking news by CBN Governor on Sunday 29th January 2023, Governor Godwin Emefele said “the extension is to enable Nigerians have more time to seamlessly transit from the era of old Naira notes to new ones” .
He added that, “the affected Naira notes are: N1,000, N500, and N200.
He stressed that with this development, Nigerians are encouraged to use and accept old Naira notes side by side with the new Naira notes till February 10.
Recall, CBN had earlier mentioned Tuesday being 31st January as the deadline for old Naira notes in circulation before this latest extension.
