In a startling turn of events, allegations of a sinister plot involving Governor Yahaya Bello and Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bethrand Onuoha, have emerged.

The allegations center around a purported plan to launch a campaign of intimidation against supporters of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Governorship Candidate, Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka.

According to the SDP’s Director of Communications, Faruk Adejoh Audu, they have uncovered a conspiracy between Governor Bello and Commissioner Onuoha to frame SDP members in Kogi Local Government Area with fabricated charges.

The alleged goal is to crack down on SDP supporters in the region.

This alleged scheme appears to be Governor Bello’s response to a wave of defections from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State.

Several APC members, including ward chairmen, a former State Assembly Member, and even his own Special Advisers, have publicly declared their rejection of Governor Bello and announced their support for Alhaji Ajaka.

The SDP claims that a notorious individual, Bashir Gegu, allegedly hired by Governor Bello, has provided a list of major supporters of Alhaji Ajaka to Commissioner Onuoha. It is said that a squad of policemen, supported by Bello’s alleged thugs led by Gegu, is preparing to invade Kogi Local Government Area.

The situation has escalated since the arrival of Commissioner Onuoha in Kogi, with allegations that he has refused to take action against Governor Bello’s supporters, despite reports of violence and criminal activities.

The SDP has called on the Inspector of Police, the Police Service Commission, and the Minister for Police Affairs to intervene and address the situation urgently.

They also invite the international community to take note of the alleged intimidation and attacks on their supporters.

In a bid to protect their rights and ensure their supporters’ safety, the SDP has sought legal assistance from lawyers including Mr. Femi Falana SAN.

These allegations raise concerns about the integrity of the political process in Kogi State and the need for authorities to uphold democratic principles and protect citizens’ rights.

The situation continues to develop, and further investigations are ongoing to verify the claims made by the SDP.

This is a developing story, and more updates will follow as information becomes available.
