In a riveting sermon last Sunday at the Solemn Faith International Church in Port Harcourt, Pastor Mathew James Eleojo delved into the profound topic of “Overcoming the Midianite Generation.”
Shedding light on the spiritual insights derived from biblical references, the pastor elucidated on the challenges posed by the Midianite spirit and provided a roadmap for liberation.
Drawing from Genesis 25:1-2, Pastor Mathew highlighted Midian as the fourth son of Keturah, a descendant of Abraham. Notably, Midian is credited as the progenitor of the Midianite generations (Judges 6:13).
Abraham’s decision to give them gifts and send them away from Isaac laid the groundwork for the ensuing spiritual dynamics (Genesis 25:5-6).
He explained the following key Points on Midianite Operations:
1. Collaboration with Other Spirits: The Midianite spirit collaborates with other malevolent forces to obstruct or destroy one’s harvest (Judges 6:3, Genesis 37:28,36, Numbers 25:1-18).
2. Generational Battles: Activation of generational battles against individuals, as seen in Genesis 25:1-2,5-6,11, Numbers 25:1-25.
3. Perpetual Bondage: Striving to keep individuals in perpetual bondage or slavery, referencing Exodus 2:15-22 and Exodus 3:1.
4. Foreseeing Danger: The Midianite spirit anticipates impending danger, death, or destruction, ready to push individuals into such circumstances (Genesis 37:25,28,36,39:1, Numbers 25:1-18).
Pastor Mathew further revealed strategies to Counter Midianite Operations:
1. Embrace a New Life in Christ: Disengage from evil acts and embrace a transformative life in Christ (Judges 6:1-7,10, 2 Corinthians 5:17, John 10:10).
2. Prayer: Cry out to God in fervent prayers, emphasizing Judges 6:1-6 & 7, Exodus 2:23-25.
3. Prophetic Intervention: Seek intervention from prophets and angels, recognizing its role in restoration (Judges 6:12).
4. Divine Awareness: Acknowledge God’s constant presence (Judges 6:12-13, Genesis 39:2-21, Matthew 28:20, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 2:6, 1:20-22).
5. Self-Discovery: Look beyond present circumstances to discover personal identity and strength (Judges 6:15, 1 John 4:4, 1 Corinthians 3:16-17).
6. Address Ancestral Idols: Identify and deal with ancestral idols and altars (Judges 6:25-27).
7. Tireless Sacrifice: Engage in persistent and sacrificial efforts (Judges 6:17-21,24, 2 Kings 3:26-27).
8. Discerning Relationships: Allow God to scrutinize and guide personal connections (Judges 7:4-8).
He recommended the specific prayer Points as follows to curtail midianite generation:
1. “Ancient altar of Baal in my lineage, be destroyed by the blood of Jesus.” (Deuteronomy 7:5)
2. “Grave images representing me on altars, I break and set you on fire.”
3. “Ancestral grove behind the altar, I cut you down by the axe and sword of the Holy Ghost.”
4. “Father, intervene against those servicing altars/idols opposing me and my family in Jesus’ name.”
In a world grappling with spiritual complexities, Pastor Mathew’s insights offer a guide to navigate and triumph over the challenges posed by the Midianite generation.
Believers are encouraged to apply these strategies in their spiritual journey for lasting freedom.
