In a disturbing turn of events, Kogi Security Chiefs are reportedly planning a second invasion of the residence of Sheik Ibrahim, Director-General of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Governorship Campaign Council.
This follows the cold-blooded November massacre orchestrated by security forces in which three policemen and two nephews of the DG lost their lives.
According to Faruk Adejoh Audi, spokesman for the SDP Campaign Council in Kogi State, the Security Chiefs intend to justify this invasion by claiming to search for firearms.
Allegedly armed with a search warrant from a Lokoja judge associated with the Kogi State Governor, Mr. Yahaya Bello, the Security Chiefs plan to stage the planting of weapons within the DG’s residence.
The spokesperson reveals that previous attempts to implicate SDP members in arms-related activities failed, prompting a desperate move to use Mr. Yahaya Bello’s Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) to introduce weapons into the residence.
The invasion is viewed as a last-ditch effort by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bethrand Unuoha, to rationalize the earlier massacre.
Unuoha, who claimed responsibility for the previous bloodshed, is alleged to be orchestrating this new plot to frame the SDP with gun running and violence.
The SDP asserts that these weapons, including pump actions and AK47s, will be strategically placed to link the party with previous murders committed by known APC thugs.
The SDP challenges Mr. Unuoha to provide evidence supporting his claims and appeals to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, to promptly redeploy Mr. Unuoha from Kogi State.
The party fears further bloodshed and calls for intervention to prevent additional innocent lives from being affected by the alleged misconduct of the State Commissioner of Police.
