” We have waited on Government for so long without result”, “Enough is enough “, ” We cannot continue this way”, ” We don’t have responsible Governor like Governor Zulu neither do we have a proactive Senator in Kogi East like   Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduangaa who are giving it back to their societies.

Above are the few phrases out of many comprehensions from Agada’s sons and daughters.

It is against this background that Sons and Daughters of Agada , Ogbabede in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State have decided to put their resources together to install solar street lights for the community.

A project that is laudable by many, was commissioned by the President of Agada Development Association ( ADA ), Mr Gabriel Odiba Isah on 23rd December 2023 along sides some stakeholders of the community, including the Madakis, Gagos, representatives of Religious Heads and Patron of the Association, Elder Francis Ojoh.

Speaking at the commissioning, Mr Gabriel Odiba Isah, said, ” It is time to give it back to the community and he delighted to witness the level of reception and enthusiasm the people have shown promising that more good things were cooking in the pipeline for community.

Also speaking, Elder Francis Ojoh, congratulated the Association for achieving this fit under the amiable leadership of Mr Gabriel Odiba Isah saying that , he was looking forward to see how more solar street lights would be installed at strategic places of the village particularly, the market square where is considered to be the centre of the village.

Conducting the benefactors round the points of Installation, the Energy Consultant for the project, Mr Michael Omakoji Sani, said, the solar street lights installed are of high quality AKT Product stressing that, adequate maintenance and thorough surveillance will make the product to serve the community well.

Earlier, there were special prayers by Elders of the village for Agada’s Sons and Daughters for God to continue to prosper them, protect them, and provide for them in their various endeavours.

There was popular OGBA DANCE by the Villagers to celebrate the installation of solar street lights by the ‘some set of the villagers’.

Agada community founded around 1817 before Clifford and Richard constitutions is a village in Ogbabede ward – Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State with an estimated population of over twenty thousand people is an abandoned community by susessive governments except Alhaji Ibrahim Ibro ‘s led government that constructed a road from Abocho through the village to Ogbabede village in 2007.
