The immediate aspirant for the House of Representatives from the Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency under the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Comrade UsmanĀ Austin Okai, has decried the deplorable condition of female hostels, especially Inikpi’s Hostel, at Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba (PAUU).
Okai made the observation while addressing female students at the school last Saturday.
Describing the structure of Inikpi’s Hostel as an eyesore, Okai said it is unhygienic for any human being to dwell in such an environment.
Speaking further, Okai urged Governor Usman Ododo to set sentiment aside and immediately address the situation.
Okai encouraged the female students to take advantage of their numerical strength over their male counterparts to participate actively in politics.
He stated that they can achieve this by obtaining Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs), attending political meetings, and deciding who becomes their representative through voting.
Okai cited prominent Nigerian women who have made significant contributions to governance, including Dora Akunyili of NAFDAC, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of the World Bank, and Senator Natasha Akpoti, among others.
Okai concluded his lecture by appealing to the state government to act quickly, as the situation at Inikpi’s Hostel could lead to outbreaks of cholera and other serious communicable diseases.
