The internet has been abuzz in the last few days following the announcement of Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji‘s  resignation from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

Dr. Adoji, a highly respected son of Kogi East, is cherished by many, and his decision has sparked widespread reactions both within Kogi East and beyond.

While some individuals attribute his resignation to Nigeria’s flawed political system characterized by manipulation and corruption, which often deprives competent individuals of leadership opportunities others have expressed their support and admiration for him.

Barrister Salifu Oguche, a distinguished legal practitioner and a potential candidate for the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has taken the time to analyze Dr. Adoji’s personality, share his personal encounters with him, and extend his best wishes for his future political journey.

OurWorldGist presents to you the unedited letter from this rising Kogi icon, Barrister Salifu Oguche Usman.

Titled “LETTER TO DR. VICTOR ALEWO ADOJI JP,” Barrister Salifu Oguche Usman writes:

” Dr Victor Alewo Adoji, the best Senator we are yet to have, I hope this is not a retirement but a retreat for realignment.

As you resign your membership of the People’s Democratic Party, I hope that whatever may have informed your decision, losing faith in our people, the people you sought to give leadership to wasn’t one of such.

I remember meeting you at the breakfast session of Igala Hall of Fame, in Anyigba in 2006, the zeal, vibrancy and passion with which you articulated and advocated the plight and cause of our people, as a young undergraduate then, I was amazed at the eloquence and charisma with which you dissected the issues paquing your homeland and people.

I was to put your character to test a year thereafter when I reached out to you for an assistance in what was then my greatest life challenge and low and behold, without bothering about what part of your homeland I came from, you readily offered the assistance I asked without attaching any form of syringes to it, you only requested one thing from me, that I should do well by excelling in my endeavours, that I have tried to do for almost two decades running.

I took a lesson from my experience in your office at Victoria Island, Lagos that morning in November, 2007. I remember I met a number of fellow tribesmen waiting to see you and while I was ushered in to meet with you, I met this young man who came a day before all the way from Ejule, I remember vividly you asked him what exactly he wanted and he emphasized the fact that all he wanted was a motorcycle, he offered to get a fairly used one which cost he put at #120,000 but you asked further how much a brand new will cost and handed him the sum of #250,000 with additional sum for his transport logistics back home with a rider that he should be his best.

I followed your life and political trajectory over these near two decades of unbroken service to our people, you have served our people with your personal resources and you have shown that leadership is truly all about sacrifice and services to the people.

I have watched closely how you have continued to offer leadership and motivation to our people in ways unprecedented in our homeland, I have hoped against hope that the political system will avail you the much needed opportunity to consolidate what you have been doing on a massive scale, I have prayed that God that gave some exceptional Nigerian leaders the lip to bequeath quality leadership to their people will do same for us in your case.

The above belief and faith has encouraged me and countless Kogites to trode behind you in your political sojourn in the last one decade though each outing ended in one heart break after another with the political system often depriving the people the much sought after opportunity for greater representation. I have also watched helplessly how you struggled in the murky waters of opposition party politics often enmeshed in treachery, ticket racketeering, sell out and all that.

I know you have acquired a deep well of experience in all of these and also come to see the people you sought to bequeath leadership to inside out, I also know that lessons have been learnt and thank God most particularly that you have kept your mien and faith in God and our people, despite their shortcomings.

I am very confident that your latest move in resigning your membership of the People’s Democratic party was a well thought out decision being the man of reason and character that you are, I know too well that even without scrutiny that this is in the overall interest of yourself, your political career and our people and their future.

While trusting you to announce your next political move, I pray fervently that this decision is not a final withdrawal from politics but an opportunity for sober reflection and subsequent realignment.

I pray you come out stronger and renewed for a better outing because I know that as perverse as the political landscape of this country is, with consistency and God on your side, we will ultimately win. God bless you DVAA for all you do”
