As the continent of Africa awaits the biggest election in Nigeria, a Political Observer,Comrade Enejoh Simon Sani, of Centre for Liberty has said that he was confident that Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ), would conduct near free, fair and credible election come February 2023.

Comrade Enejoh Sani, said the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System ( BVAS ), going into 2023 election made it a complete departure from the old narratives where incident forms and the cases of over voting were used to subvert the will of the people.

Comrade Enejoh Sani, made this known while appearing on a popular program on African Independent Television ( AIT ) titled: ” People Politics and Power ” anchored by a veteran Broadcaster, Mr Imonia.

Speaking on the topic: ” INEC Preparations For 2023 Polls”, Comrade Enejoh Said, ” Judging from Imo Election, Federal Capital Territory ( FCT ) Election, Ekiti Election and Osun Election, one can give thump up to INEC for improving progressively”.

” Having said that, let me say without fear or favour that Security Agencies, Executive and Judiciary Arms of government remain the greatest enemies to free, fair and credible election in Nigeria “.

” For example, we have had case of where combined force of security unit who are supposed to be neutral or apolitical had compromised during and after election to subvert the while of the people ( a case of how Helicopter was used by security outfit to rig Kogi November 2019 election is still fresh in our mind )”.

” Similarly, it is not also out of place to mention how some executives especially those in power, had used their positions to influence the processes and the results of the election”.

” Judiciary too are not left out as they had in the past produced ‘Supreme Court Governor’, ‘ Helicopter Governor ‘ among others “.

Speaking Further, Enejoh said, “while I commended Lawmakers for passing 2022 Electoral Acts into law, I equally want to call on the Executive to release all the funds needed by INEC in order to make 2023 election a huge success”.

Asked whether there are challenges going into 2023 election or not, Comrade Enejoh said, ” certainly, there are challenges, the issue of hackers attempting to hack INEC’s Portal during results transmission, the issue of some All Progressive Congress Members being appointed as INEC’s Resident Commissioners, INEC staff complaining lack of data to transmit or upload election result, Politicians interference here and there among others, are issues of concerns to Nigerians and they have to be holistically addressed before the forth coming election”.

He added, ” All eyes are on President Muhammadu Buhari, and all the institutions concern whether Nigeria would witness free, fair and credible election come February 2023 or not”.

On a reflective note, Comrade Enejoh Sani, paid tribute to all the falling heroes especially Late Comrade Ario who invested his time and resources to see the passage of 2022 electoral Acts into law that has given backing to BVAS but did not live to witness 2023 election.

He prayed to God however to grant him eternal rest and also console his loved ones to bear this monumental loss.
