The Agada Development Association (ADA) has issued a call to the sons and daughters of Agada and its surrounding areas, urging them to maintain a peaceful demeanor in the lead-up, during, and after the Kogi gubernatorial election set for November 11, 2023.
The recently elected chairman of the Association, Mr. Gabriel Odiba Isah, conveyed this message during a joint session of the Association’s meeting held on October 28, 2023, at the Goshen Hotel in Lokoja, Kogi State’s capital.
Isah emphasized that elections should not be treated as matters of life and death, cautioning those contemplating violence to reconsider, as their actions could lead to destructive consequences.
Alhaji Hussain Ajabi, the former President of the Association, highlighted the historical commitment to peace and hospitality in Agada and Ogbabede ward.
He strongly advised those planning violence to steer clear, warning that doom awaits them.
Elder Francis Ojoh, the Patron of the Association, issued a stern warning, stating that those who have opposed Agada have faced consequences.
He urged those with violent intentions to abandon their plans, or else they risk untimely destruction.
The meeting also saw a resolution passed that, starting in 2024, the annual levy of the Association will increase from N1,000 to N2,000.
Furthermore, members and supporters of the Association were encouraged to contribute generously to the ongoing solar project in Agada.
The contributions are pressing, with a goal to install a substantial number of solar units before December 2023.
Mr. Gabriel Odiba Isah expressed his gratitude to the Lokoja branch of the Association for hosting the gathering and commended them for providing ample meals for all participants.
This meeting, attended by representatives from across the state of the Federation, also had in attendance respected Elder Abraham Alfa.
