The Former Commissioner of Culture and Tourism whose many describe as friend of the downtrodden, Hon Ugbede Paul Ebije has bagged two merit awards for his selfless service to humanity and society at large.

Presenting the first award at the prestigious Starview Hotel Abuja, the President of the National Youth Liberation For Good Governance ( NYLGG ), Comrade Gabriel Edoh Paul said, “Of all the names nominated for the ‘Icon Of Humanitarian Service Award’, Hon Ugbede Paul Ebije stood out because he has distinguished himself within the short period he has held public office.

Comrade Gabriel Edoh added that Hon Ugbede Paul Ebije has built a sound reputation for himself stressing that apart from being a friend of the poor, he is also a philanthropist, a goal setter, a mentor, a rear gem, and a working Encyclopedia of Nigerian Youth both home and abroad.

Similarly, the President of National Youth Council of Nigeria ( NYCN ) comr kabiru matazu has also presented the award of “Achiever Per Excellence ” to Hon Ugbede Paul Ebije for what he described as ‘recognition and appreciation of his immense contribution to youth empowerment, human transformation and his numerous contributions to educational development of Kogi State and Nigeria in general”.

Comr Kabiru Matazu

While Congratulating Hon Ugbede for making the Youth proud, Comr kabiru matazu said “Prince” Ugbede as he was fondly called back then in Bayero University Kano ( BUK ) has demonstrated capacity to deliver and as he shown that from his track record of activities in BUK then.

Responding, Hon Ugbede Paul Ebije said, he was short of words to appreciate the two bodies saying that from his background findings before he obliged to accept the two awards, he discovered from friends and associates that NYLGG & NYCN are not jobber bodies’ but serious and recognized bodies Nation wide.

He added with sense of humility that he never knew that his little effort in the society is being tracked by some bodies that would lead to these magnitude of awards emphasizing that the gesture will ginger him to do more any time he has such an opportunity again and again.

While accepting to be a ‘National Patron of the NYLGG, he also promised to contribute his own quota towards making the body great and a pride for all.

He however thanked His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello for giving him opportunity to serve at that level adding that he forever remains grateful to him and his deputy, Enward Onojah.

Hon Ugbede dedicated the awards to his immediate family and the good people of Kogi State who provided an enabling environment to serve them.

Highlights of the occasion were a light refreshment and a group photography:
