Renowned Islamic Scholar, Abdullahi Abubakar, Passes On in Kogi
The people of Kogi State, particularly the Igala Kingdom, have been thrown into deep mourning following the passing of respected Islamic scholar, Abdullahi Abubakar of Inye in Ankpa Local Government Area.
The late scholar, widely known for his humility, wisdom, and dedication to humanity, was a spiritual father and mentor to thousands of Islamic students across the state, especially among communities in Agbenema in Omala Local Government Area.
His death has left a painful vacuum in the hearts of many who benefited from his teachings, guidance, and fatherly counsel.
For decades, Abdullahi Abubakar devoted his life to the service of God and the growth of Islamic education.
Beyond being a teacher, he was regarded as a bridge-builder, peace advocate, and compassionate leader whose impact extended beyond religion and touched countless lives.
According to Mallam Aliyu Paul, a close associate of the deceased, the late scholar lived a life worthy of emulation and remained committed to the upliftment of humanity until his final moments.
“He was a great man who lived for God and for the people. He dedicated his life to raising scholars, guiding the young, and promoting peace in society. His legacy will continue to live on through the many students and families he positively affected,” he said emotionally.
Family members, students, admirers, and sympathizers have continued to pour out tributes, describing the late cleric as a rare gem whose wisdom, kindness, and devotion to faith inspired many across generations.
Janazah prayers and burial rites for the deceased are scheduled to take place today after the 4 p.m. prayers.
Meanwhile, Mallam Aliyu Paul disclosed that the 8-day prayer for the late Islamic scholar will hold on Sunday, 17th May, 2026.
As the community mourns this painful loss, prayers continue to rise for Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljanah Firdaus, and give his family, students, and loved ones the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
