The renowned sociocultural organisation Udama Igala World-Wide has issued a stern warning to the Ankpa Local Government Area Chairman, Hon. Engr. Adamu Muhammed Yahaya, demanding an immediate end to the intimidation and harassment of residents of Ankpa.
The organisation alleges that the chairman is acting in favour of coal miners who are unlawfully invading and grabbing community lands in the area without due process.
The National Chairman of Udama Igala Worldwide, Mallam Aliyu Paul, conveyed the warning through the National Secretary, Comrade Michael Sani, during a press briefing held in Abuja on Monday, 22nd June 2026.
The warning followed a disturbing development in which Hon. Engr. Adamu Muhammed Yahaya, reportedly in collaboration with local vigilante groups, has been alleged to be intimidating and harassing Ankpa residents in a bid to appropriate their ancestral lands for coal mining interests purportedly in exchange for gratification.
Of particular concern to the organisation was a harrowing account from a young man in the area who cried out for help through social media after his cousin, Achegulu, was allegedly killed in cold blood.
His immediate younger brother, Bashiru Yahaya, was also subsequently arrested for daring to challenge the extrajudicial killing an act the organisation linked directly to the directives of the local government chairman.
The association further called on Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, to urgently call the chairman to order, warning that legal action would be instituted against him if the harassment continued.
Part of the press briefing statement read: “In an unjust society, silence is a crime. Regardless of any person’s offence, no individual is permitted to take the life of another without due legal process and judicial pronouncement.”
Udama Igala Worldwide, is a renowned Social cultural group that serves as a mouthpiece of the Igala people, with a membership of over one million people across the world.
