Breaking: House Summons Minister Sadiya & Others To Account For N1.7 Trillion

The National House of Assembly through its commitee on Finane, Budget and Appropriation has on Friday being 7th July 2020 served a notice of summon to the Minister of Humanantarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Sadiya Farouq Umar along side the erswhile Minister of Finance, Budget & Planning, Mrs Kemi Adeosun and the current Minister of Finance, Budget and planning, Mrs Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed to appear before it in order to give explaination on how the both Ministries spent the sum of N1.7 trillion between 2016 and 2020 on social intervention scheme program.

Briefing the press men at Abuja, the chairman commitee on Finance/Budget and Appropriation, Hon. Oluwole Oke said, the sermon has become necessary as the tax payers ( Nigerians ) demand to know how such huge amount of money was spent without valid document to explain the break down of the expenditures.

Oke added that information flying around on social media and the pages of newspapers suggest that over N500 Million were being spent on daily basis during the Lockdown feeding pulpils.

He said, Hajiya Sadiya and other stakeholders concern are to render explaination how they were able to do that when pulpils were maintaining social distancing with parents during the Lockdown.

Hon Oke equally stressed that the house has also recieved countless reportd on how some beneficiaries of Npower are being owed backlog of stipends including the months of June and July.

He added that the Minister and those concern are to give valid explaination why such ugly development especially at this time of covid-19 pandemic when the companies are downsizing and businesses activities are at its lowest ebb.
