The rate at which some people indulge in intellectual theft as a smart way of doing business is now at alarming rate.

This prompted  ‘OURWORLDGIST’  to invite a business practitioner (Sani Michael Omakoji ) who also doubles as a regular features writer on this platform to share his view with us.

In what he titles as “Pay Your Bills & Stop Fraudulent business Practice” this is what Sani Michael Omakoji has to say: “Life means different thing to different people but one common fact about life is that, “it is a war and one has to fight for it to attain his or her dream”.

From all courses of studies, we are all encouraged not to be lazy at our chosen vocation or career.

Even the holy Book, the Bible, encourages us to be dedicated & diligent at our work as further stated that God will bless the work of our hands & he or she who refuses to work should not eat.

This means that, God does not encourage laziness neither humanity does.

By application, if all things being equal, one should be paid for services rendered either in textual or oral forms as no one can actually give what he or she does not have ( “nemo dat quod non habet” _ as put it in Law ).

Dishearteningly, it saddens my heart to know that some people often cunningly want to access their fellow ones’ professional services without paying a dime for it.

This is very common in the city of Abuja as the town accommodates a lot of people who see business as a means of acquiring illegal wealth either through crooks or indulging in intellectual theft.

Scammers in Abuja who are into business, if I may ask, why do you want an expert to write a business proposal, feasibility studies, Investment projection, Budgeting and many more without pay in return?

This you people mischievously ask for under a guise of helping a whom be expert to submit a proposal for a contract that will never be given to him or her even at his or her old age.

All you people do is to copy and paste the same proposal and replace it with your company letter head and eventually claim the contract at the end!

This is not just an intellectual theft but a crime against God and humanity as you have suffered the writer and initiator of the proposal without pay.

Remember there is always a reward for our deed as robbing Peter to pay Paul often ends with a punishment.

I want to state here that people who are involved in this practice in Abuja and else where will not enjoy the proceeds from this stolen intellectual theft as is not the works of their hands.

Note, I do not write to vent my anger but I write to expose this cunny practice in the city of Abuja especially for those who are new to Abuja’s business environment.

Finally, let us adopt the gospel of Professor E. U Amaga in his book: “Godly Business In A Godly Business Environment” which says, “419, money laundering, intellectual theft, gambling, and all forms of evil practices in our today’s business world are not actually business”.
