UDAMA IGALA World-wide has congratulated the Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA) on the successful inauguration of its new executive members.
Addressing journalists at the Ata Igala’s palace, the venue of the inauguration last Saturday, August 10th, 2024, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Kerimu Paul, accompanied by his Vice, Suleiman Yahaya, expressed confidence in the competency and capability of the new executive to foster the unity and development of the Igala Kingdom.
He added that Udama Igala World-Wide would cooperate with ICDA to attract development to the Igala Kingdom.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the new executive, the newly elected Chairman of ICDA, Dr. Ahmed Abdullahi, thanked the Igala Kingdom for giving him and his cabinet the opportunity to serve the revered Igala land promising that they will justify the confidence placed in them.
Also speaking, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Matthew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa, the Atta Igala, urged the newly inaugurated Executive Committee members of the foremost Igala socio-cultural body, ICDA, to develop new strategies that would foster deeper unity, peace, and security in the Igala Kingdom.
He emphasized that the move was aimed at enhancing and accelerating development in Kogi East.
While administering the oath of office to the newly elected National Executive Council of ICDA, the Monarch noted that the association had served as an umbrella body and a symbol of collective strength and sense of purpose for the Igala nation.
He advised the executive members to keep the flame of unity, peace, and development burning in the Igala Kingdom.
The paramount ruler, however, lamented that despite the efforts and ideals of the founding fathers, the association had recently become a center of disunity, lacking cohesion, and had witnessed an increased promotion of the desecration of Igala customs, traditions, and values.
The Atta Igala, represented by the Ejeh of Dekina and Chairman of the Dekina Local Government Traditional Council, HRH Alhaji Usman Obaje, charged the new executive to foster formidable cohesion among the people.
