After a long agitation from the beneficiaries of Npower for batches A and B, the Federal Government ( FG ) has through the Minister of Finance and Budget Planning, Mrs Zainab revealed the exit package for the affected batches.
The Minister disclosed this on Monday morning being 13th July 2020 while appearing on a programme titled “Good Morning Nigeria” on Nigerian Television Authority ( NTA ).
According to the Minister, the outgoing beneficiaries of Npower would be given loan from GEEP programme of the federal government between the amount ranging from N100,000 to N300,000.
GEEP is an acronym name for “Enterprise and Empowerment Programme” of the federal government to assist the households and SMEs.
She added that the loan would be given to beneficiaries according to individual performance in the awaiting psychometric test.
Earlier, a beneficiary of Npower who goes by the name Ibrahim Mustafa has asked the Hon Minister of Finance thus, “Many of npower exited beneficiaries have not been paid march to April now june and july that was promised would be paid to us as we exit. Honurable minister what assurances would you give us that we would be paid by the federal government?
The Minister went further to assure the beneficiaries that their outstanding stipends would be paid in due dates.
This she said without mentioning the particular dates when the issue of backlogs would be addressed.
Meanwhile, the Minister in Charge of Npower, Sadiya Farouq Umar seemed not to be on the same page with the Hon Minister of Finance Mrs Zainab as she tweeted on her twitter handle that she and the stakeholders are working round the clock to ensure successful transition for batches A and B.
With this statement, Npower beneficiaries are now confused in sense that while Sadiya is talking on “transition plan”, the Hon Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab is on the other side talking about ” exit package ”
Sadiya tweet reads “My team and I continue to interface with stakeholders to ensure a successful transition for the @npower_ng. It has been 16 days since the portal opened and we have received 4.48 million applications to date”.
