Social Critic,Comrade Usman Austin Okai says the inaction on the part of Kogi State Government had led to the thriving activities of kidnappers in Kogi east, laments that kidnappers now have a safe heaven in Kogi East due to government negligence saying we only hear of high profiles kidnapping cases as there is no day go bye without people being kidnapped in Igala land but not being reported.

In this vein,he calls for more actions on the part of the state government against the activities of this disgruntled elements, that had turned Igala/Bassa land as their operational base.

He says the recent activities of kidnappers that had turned Kogi east to No go area, is now a nightmare,as kidnapping has become daily occurrence in all parts of Kogi east.

Okai maintained that the safety of lives and properties of the people of the state,is at the instance of the state governor, urging the state government to jettison selective and adopt collective actions.

Comrade Okai says aside the kidnapping of high profile individuals across the the Senatorial district, many citizens of the area are already in the den of kidnappers who are feeding fat on the area he said the kidnappers are also collecting food stuffs as part of ransome, this is happening while the state government is doing nothing about it.

‘The recent kidnapping of a high class traditional ruler of Ankpa kingdom, former Chief judge,Sharia Court, many victims are daily been killed by their abductors across Kogi east’, the people of kogi east were now completely at the mercy of armed gangs who roam towns and villages at will, killing and kidnapping people and wrecking havoc without any effort from the state government, just two days ago, Barrister Isaac Ekpa was kidnapped along Anyigba road on his way for his father burial in Ogugu, I am also aware of how the acting Eje of Ankpa was also kidnapped on his way to mosque.

The activists said the current situation in the Igala/ Bassa region has demonstrated that Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration has failed also in provision of security.

He wondered why the state government had maintained consistent silence on the ugly development in Kogi east, while other parts of the state are in safe custody of either rejigged security apparatuses or highly sophisticated vigilante groups.

The social crusader challenge the state government to set up a special squad which will comprises of local vigilante group, hunters to man Kogi east,so as to curtail the activities of criminal elements in the area.

The Social Critic opined that the lackadaisical attitudes of the state government will allow the current ugly development to go unabated, against the well being of the people of the area,Kogi state in general .

Okai while praying for the release of Barrister Isaac Ekpa and acting Ejeh of Ankpa tasked the traditional rulers to rise up in unionism and draw the attention authorities to this insecurity that has ravaged our communities, as the time is now t to say, enough is enough and demand an immediate improvement of security in the region and entire state.
