From all indication, Oshiomole has faced stiff opposition from some influential members of the APC for his alleged role in the crisis affecting the party in some states especially, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Zamfara, Ondo, Oyo, and so on.

This led to the decision of some aggrieved members to obtain an interlocutory order from Justice Danlami Senchi of the FCT High Court Jabi, Abuja to ask Oshiomole to stop parading himself as the National Chairman of the party pending when the matter against him is resolved.

But as the cookie crumbles alot of political analysts have fingered the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi as the ring leader spearheading the onslaught against Oshiomole.

Oshiomole first dropped the hint about Amaechi at his reaction to Justice Senchi’s order when he said; “How can 9 persons who do their meetings in the night in one Minister’s house think they can remove me?”

Oshiomole’s comment corroborated the actions of the Acting National Secretary of the APC, Chief Victor Giadom who immediately after the Court order held a Press Conference stating that, “The APC will obey the decision of the Court.”

Giadom has also led a meeting of the National Working Committee, NWC of the party where he disowned the appointment of officers including ex-Governor Abiola Ajimobi into vacant positions of the APC.

Victor Giadom, a protégé of the Minister of Transportation was the Deputy Governorship candidate of the APC in Rivers state in the election they never participated in.

A top member of the APC who begged not to be named said, “Amaechi has not forgiven Oshiomole for what happened in Rivers state. And I doubt he would forgive him and our National Leader, Bola Tinubu for being the clog in APC’s fortunes in Rivers. The man is still angry. But I think they acted too early despite the shortcomings of Oshiomole.”

Albeit, it is obvious that Amaechi is not alone in this even though the real identities of Oshiomole’s antagonists are still being speculated.

However, out of the 19 Governors of the APC, 5 are said to be part of the Amaechi group.

The efficacious 5 are; Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Kayode Fayemi who is in the good books of the Presidency.

Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, a bossom buddy of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Godwin Obaseki, the embattled Governor of Edo state that enjoys solidarity of his brother-Governors.

Governor of Plateau State, Solomon Lalong, the only Christian-Governor of APC in the North-Central who has remained the pride of the current administration in the midst of ethnic jingoism.

And Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who demystified the godfather of South-West politic, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

These men with their clout can save Amaechi from the aggression that will follow the attempt to force Oshiomole out of office.

How far they are willing to go is still unknown but the battle for 2023 has begun in earnest and there is no stopping now despite the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari.
